What is there to see and do?
- Otter Haven at Kylerhea
- Ring of Bright Water - The book and films were based on Gavin Maxwell who lived within a few miles, on an island where the Skye Bridge now crosses.
- Seals - whether basking on the rocks or floating around, looking at the "natives!"
- Fishing - There are lots of Sea angling and freah water fishing oportunities available all around the island. Kylerhea has is very own "Fisherman's Point" but you will be competing with the seals and the otters, but there are lots of fish there; that's what attracts the seals!
- Bird watching - Small & large birds, on land & sea, from your doorstep! Look out for Buzzard and Osprey or the White tailed eagle. Aros Visitors Centre, near Portree, has CCTV viewing right into the nests and a guide can give an interesting insight into the life and habits of the various birds. RSPB members can visit the exhibition free, otherwise a small fee is payable.
- Climbing - The Cuillin Hills are renowned but there are many other places on the isle. Dave & Jeanette are keen climbers and can advise on suitable places to visit. It is possible to hire a guide for more adventurous walks or on the cuillin mountains.
- Tourism - The Isle of Skye has always had a magical quality, but there are now many tourist attractions.
- Driving and sightseeing - Leave lots of time to stop on your trips, the views are terrific! Driving tours of the island Scenic views.
- Photography - Fantastic scenery and wildlife to capture. The lighting changes the views dramatically.
- Walking / Hiking - from a wander along the shoreline to a full-day hike, you choose!
